A PERSONALIZED BOOK ABOUT RAMADAN
This book is unique in that the child (to whom the book is given) is the main character. His/her name appears throughout the book together with those of some of his/her relatives or friends. In this way, the child can personally identify with the book, become directly involved in the story, and in doing so, develop a better understanding of Ramadan and Eid.
First published in 1993, “The New Moon”, a story about Ramadan written by Nadia Minty, is being re-released with new illustrations. The children who enjoyed receiving this book as gifts are now adults.

“Childhood memories”
At 30 years old I still find myself reaching for this book as it brings back the fondest memories of my childhood. Seeing my name and the pet names of my family members in print just makes it that much more special.

“Rush and excitement of Eid”
I received The New Moon from my parents as an Eid gift. lt’s always been a must read every year the night before Eid. It amazed me as a child because it had that personalized touch – a story about the rush and excitement about Eid night and Eid day and having your favourite cousins, aunts and uncles names being mentioned in the book which gave me that thrill as a child. When I got married I learnt that my husband had the same book personalized for him and the same tradition of reading it the night before Eid, so that was very special!
I definitely will be purchasing the new edition for my children.
